The door seal is damaged — what's the cause?

Engineer's advice

People often assume this is a minor issue, but it is not.

The rubber seal could have been damaged by a nail, a screw or a foreign object accidentally left in a garment.

To replace the seal correctly, the top panel needs to be removed to access the counterweight, which significantly limits the working space.

Without experience, you risk causing greater damage to the appliance, so it is best to leave this job to a professional engineer.

According to Archimede Lab data, "door seal" accounts for 4.2% of washing machine interventions (8,856 cases). On Samsung the rate reaches 8.9%.
