How the Archimede service works

Archimede is a network of engineers specialising in out-of-warranty appliance repair. We have been going since 2001 in Italy and since 2005 across Europe, and we have managed over 196,000 service requests across more than 70 areas in Italy. The service is designed to be simple, transparent and fast — from your first call to the finished repair, every step is set up to cut waiting times and get rid of surprises.

Contact

You contact Archimede by phone, online or via WhatsApp. Just let us know what is going on, along with the brand and model of the appliance if you have them to hand. You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself — simply describe what is happening.

Archimede responds Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6pm. Requests received outside these hours are dealt with on the next working day.

Scheduling

Archimede finds the nearest and most suitable engineer for the type of repair. Before the appointment, the engineer contacts you directly for a phone assessment — they try to pin down the fault so they can turn up with the right spare part. The aim is to sort things out in a single visit.

The repair is usually booked within 24 hours of your request. You will be told the day, time slot and the engineer's name. If the time does not suit, you can rearrange at no extra cost.

Diagnosis and quote

The engineer visits your home, carries out a diagnosis and gives you a quote before doing any work. The quote covers parts, labour and estimated time.

If you decide not to go ahead, you only pay the call-out fee — the cost of the home visit. No hidden costs, no obligation.

Guaranteed repair

The engineer carries out the repair and checks that everything is working properly. The repair is covered by a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour.

If the same problem comes back within 12 months, the engineer returns at no extra cost.

Payment is made directly to the engineer at the end of the repair, by card or cash.

The call-out fee

The call-out fee covers the engineer's home visit. You only pay it if you decide not to go ahead with the repair after receiving the quote. If the repair goes ahead, the call-out fee is included in the total cost.

The amount varies depending on the area and type of appliance. It is confirmed before your appointment, not afterwards.

What "out of warranty" means

Archimede repairs appliances that are no longer covered by the manufacturer's warranty (usually 2 years from purchase). We are not an authorised service centre for any single brand — we are an independent network that repairs all brands. Some of our engineers are also authorised centres for certain manufacturers, which means the network has both independent and certified expertise.

How is that different from an authorised centre? Authorised centres follow the manufacturer's procedures and price lists, often with longer wait times and higher costs. Archimede works differently — we choose the most effective and fastest solution for you, using original or compatible parts as appropriate, without middlemen and without unnecessary extras.

Frequently asked questions

How long from the call to the repair?

Typically the engineer visits within 24 hours of your request. When you book, you are given the day, time slot and the engineer's name.

How much does the service cost?

It depends on the type of repair. Before any work starts, the engineer gives you a detailed quote. If you decide not to go ahead, you only pay the call-out fee (the home visit), which is confirmed at the time of booking.

What guarantee is there on the work?

Every repair is covered by a 12-month guarantee on parts and labour, provided directly by the engineer. If the same problem comes back within 12 months, the engineer returns at no extra cost.

Can I choose the day and time of the repair?

Yes. When you book, a time slot is suggested. If it does not suit, you can rearrange at no extra cost.

What happens if the engineer cannot repair it?

If the repair is not possible or not worth doing, the engineer will let you know. In that case, you only pay the call-out fee. You won't be charged for work that hasn't been done.

Does Archimede repair appliances still under warranty?

No. Archimede specialises in out-of-warranty appliance repair. If your appliance is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty (usually 2 years), we'd recommend contacting the manufacturer's authorised service centre.
