The dishwasher turns on but doesn't fill with water — what's wrong?

Engineer's advice

It might sound silly, but the first thing to check is that the power socket and plug are working properly. Test the socket with a small appliance, such as a hairdryer, to confirm there is power.

If the socket is working correctly, the problem lies with the machine itself.

Another issue could be the consumer unit, particularly if there is a dedicated circuit for individual appliances that may have tripped.

According to Archimede Lab data, "not filling with water" is the fourth most reported dishwasher fault at 10% of interventions (16,249 out of 224,554 cases).
