Dishwasher: removing odours — avoid DIY solutions

Engineer's advice

How many times have you heard suggestions for freshening up the dishwasher during a wash?

Advice such as: "Pop a lemon cut in half into the racks...".

This is a mistake you should never make. Here is why.

Lemon pips, for example, could end up in the wash pump or the drain pump, with a high risk of damaging these parts and, worse still, the wash motor.

Dishwasher-safe fresheners with cleaning properties are readily available in shops — use those instead.
