The hob is sparking when turned off — how is that possible?

If the burner is off but you can see sparks, it means current is still reaching the ignition electrode.
Problems and advice:
- There may be water near the ignition knob
- Remove the knobs and use warm air (a hairdryer works well) and wait for the area to dry completely
- If the problem persists, unplug the hob and leave it off for at least a day
- If that still does not resolve it, the issue could be a mechanically stuck switch or the control unit
