My fridge isn't cooling enough — why?

Engineer's advice

First of all, we recommend turning the thermostat to maximum to see whether the issue is with that component. If the cooling then works, you have a thermostat that has gone out of calibration and needs replacing. Alternatively, it could be the temperature control board (with a faulty sensor) or low refrigerant gas.

Of course, it all depends on the fridge model and, starting from that, whether it is worth carrying out a repair.

According to Archimede Lab data, "not cooling" is the most reported fridge fault at 45.6% of interventions (55,001 out of 171,499 cases). On Whirlpool and Ariston it reaches nearly 50%.
