The freezer fan is noisy — what's going on?

Engineer's advice

It could be a faulty fan that circulates the cold air and has become noisy.

Why? In our experience, it is usually caused by ice build-up that, as it expands, reaches the fan blades. That is where the noise comes from.

Tip: in a hurry? Grab a hairdryer and defrost the freezer. Got more time? Unplug the appliance and leave the freezer door open for at least 24 hours to achieve the same result.

If, once the affected compartment has been defrosted, you still hear noise, the fan needs replacing.
