After selecting the wash programme, the machine restarts from the beginning, the alarm sounds and it stops — why?
If the machine stops immediately and restarts from zero, it is a problem with the anti-flood sensor.
In effect, the dishwasher is signalling a water leak.
At the bottom of the machine there is a collection tray that fills up when water escapes from any section of the dishwasher.
What could be causing it? It could be a leak from a component — the pump, the wash motor, the heating element, a faulty gasket, a small hose — or even incorrect detergent dosing.
Using too much liquid detergent (rather than pre-dosed tablets) often causes excessive foam that gradually collects in the containment tray.
When the tray fills, the anti-flood sensor activates and shuts the machine down.
If the problem is caused by excess detergent, simply wait a couple of days. If the water leak was minor, it tends to dry out quickly. Run the programme again and the dishwasher should return to normal.
A more substantial leak, however, lifts a float inside the machine that triggers the sensor to shut everything down.
In this case too, we recommend calling a professional repair engineer.
