At 100 degrees the heating element seems faulty, strange noises come from the fan which then stops — what's the fix?

Here too, the first check should be on the heating elements. As for the fan noise, it could be caused by a metal panel in the frame that has bent and is interfering with the fan, producing the annoying sound.
